Consider replacing your hard drive before it fails!

September 29, 2011

Computers don’t last forever and one of the most common parts to fail is the hard drive.  Unfortunately, the hard drive is where all of the data is stored so when it fails it can have disastrous results.  The typical lifespan of a desktop computer hard drive is 4-5 years, and for a laptop it is around 3 years.  If you are using a hard drive that is around the 3 year mark, you might want to consider upgrading to be safe – it can save you a lot of headaches and frustration.

Hard drives contain moving parts inside and as with anything that has moving parts it will fail given enough time. Even if you do have full backups of everything, setting up a new hard drive can be a long process to get everything back to the way it was.

Typically a hard drive upgrade or replacement is a long cumbersome process that involves a complete reinstall and setup of your entire computer.  Lucky for you, Emerson Technologies has the tools to make this process seamless and easy and keep everything 100% identical to the way it was.  Not only do we keep all your material the same, giving you the look and feel you know and are comfortable with, but we can replace your hard drive with a larger one to make sure you have plenty of room to grow.
